Can’t add pictures to a post all of a sudden

Been trying to add a picture to my new post, and each time I go through the normal steps to do it, it works fine until the last moment. The picture appears in the post, but the “add image” box stays on as an afterimage, as if I am still working. When I go to close that leftover box, which hangs there forever, the picture, I find, doesn’t stay in the post. It’s as if it never got added. Tried this multiple times, even left the old box hanging there to see if it would clear itself. I even turned off and restarted my computer. What am I not doing right?

What browser and version are you using? DId you try the Cookie Dance? Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart computer.
