Can't add posts
-
I created a blog last week to help my family stay connected while my parents are away for an extended time. we tested it and figured out how to make it work before they left and all was fine. When they arrived, they set up their computers and posted some pictures and all went fine. Then, the next time they tried, they could not post. They tell me that when they click on new post, the screen asking what they want to add, text, video, photo, etc., comes up, but no matter what they choose, nothing happens. No message, just nothing. They are 10,000 miles away. Can you help me help them?

Let’s start with this.
Tell them not to create any posts here as the auto-save does not work there > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/
Tell them to create all posts where the auto-save works ie. here >
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New http://mintchipplease.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.phpMaybe we can help. To eliminate browser related issues here’s the drill:
If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache: http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies and JavaScript enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Totally overwhelmed by your response. Why would the posting work on the same computer with the same browser in the same location one day and then not work the next?
-
Nothing in cyberspace is frozen in time. WordPress.com is on continuous roll-out, operating systems, browser versions, security programs and firewalls are all auto-updated continually.

If everything was fine the first day, it’s unlikely (although not impossible) to be a fundamental problem with your setup (browser type, etc). Just have your family clear the cache and cookies, and try again.
Do you know which browser and OS they’re using?

No, I do not know about the browser, but it is a windows operating system. I will send them the suggestions.

In that case, if smacking the browser (whichever one it is) about the head — a.k.a. clearing the cache and cookies — doesn’t help, make sure they restart Windows too.
Another useful thing, if browser misbehavior is a possibility, is to download another browser and check to see if it also shows the problem. If it doesn’t, you can focus right in on the original browser as most likely to be The Problem. On Windows, Chrome and Firefox are easy to use and install alternatives to Internet Exploder. (Also, see the browsehappy link timethief pointed you at.)

One other thing. If it could be useful for you to log in to your family’s computer to see what they’re seeing — e.g. maybe you could check their browser setting against yours — then https://www.copilot.com is your friend.
