can't add read more links in blog or project pages – caperverso theme
-
Hi,
This is for a client’s WP site: https://mygoodmeasure.wordpress.com/
In both the blog posts and the projects the read more link only partly works. It cuts the copy where I want – but then doesn’t add the read more link!
If you look at each project on the page below. You’ll see I have just put ‘…’ instead for now. Not ideal as they remain on the copy on the whole article. I also have tried adding a false read more link and that doesn’t seem to work either!
See….
https://mygoodmeasure.wordpress.com/corporate-shop-office-interior-fitouts-refurbs-kent-london/With the blog its even worse! The images link to their own large version instead of going through to the whole article! So only the title links through – which isn’t obviously a link.

Hi Laura!
The images link to their own large version instead of going through to the whole article! So only the title links through – which isn’t obviously a link.
You can change the location the image links to in the image editor:

I’m having a hard time figuring out what the issue is here:
Can you please return the More tags to their default so I can see what’s happening?
Anyone help?
Just to clarify, you’re posting in the Staff Answers queue which means that only Staff can respond here. If you’d like help from the community at large, post in our forums here:

Thanks for your help.
Not sure what you mean about returning the More tags to their default as haven’t done anything other than add them in their default state! Maybe the set up of the page has confused matters? To clarify…
The page where I’m having trouble with adding the read more links:
https://mygoodmeasure.wordpress.com/corporate-shop-office-interior-fitouts-refurbs-kent-london/…is made up of 3 project pages. So I have added a read more link to the main copy for each of the following project pages (see headings on the page):
– Reception desk installation, Cannon Street
– Bespoke audio visual wall, library & bar, Battersea
– Beauty Salon refurb, BowYou can see where I’ve added a read more link on the front-end as I have added a ‘…’ just before where I added them (in the main copy). You can see that it has split the copy at that point (as the rest is on the full post), but its just the read more link is not visible. And thats what I’d like there!

Apologies, I misunderstood your explanation before. I took another look at how you have this set up. The Display Posts shortcode is not designed to include “Read More” links.
You may want to look at a theme that includes a grid template or another splash page template that has this type of layout.

I think we’re rather set on this template so that’s not going to be a possibility now.
Is it not possible to add a link with the display posts either? I wondered if we could work round it by adding my own link to the initial overview page – which could then take you to the full post. So, put a temporary link on the word ‘bars’ within ‘inclusive of nail bars’ within the ‘Beauty Salon refurb, Bow’ post on: https://mygoodmeasure.wordpress.com/corporate-shop-office-interior-fitouts-refurbs-kent-london/ to see and the link doesn’t show unless the full post is open (on https://mygoodmeasure.wordpress.com/portfolio/beauty-salon-refurb-london/ – if you hover over the word, you’ll see). I’d obviously want the link there on the initial page in order to open up the full post!!

The Display Posts Shortcode isn’t meant to do what you’re trying to do. It does display both the title and the image as links to the post. But it doesn’t include links in the post excerpt.
