Can't add sub-categories to menu

Hi, currently the wordpress website is having a little difficulty adding a ‘sub item’ category to the menu. At the moment there are eight categories (five main and three sub) but they were existing ones already in place. Now we’re trying to get some new sub categories added in but when accessing through ‘categories’ > ‘view all’ > then checking the right box and adding to the menu, nothing comes up. Any ideas on what is going wrong here? Thanks folks!

I’m having this problem with Twenty Eleven. Created a new post. Thought I created the category and sub category correctly. Went to Appearance>Menus> clicked on categories>View All> found my sub item for my new post and clicked it> clicked “Add To Menu”. Nothing happens. It is not creating a “tile” which I should then be able to move up to the main category of “New Stuff”. Where did I go wrong.
I did notice that in Posts>Categories the main category for this post “New Stuff” is listed twice. Once on the first page with, and again on the second page followed by all five of the posts that go under it, including my latest post “New Doll Furniture Coming Soon!” Yesterday, I tried deleting that first one with no sub items under it, but it deleted both and caused a mess….which I cleaned up. Could that be the problem? I’m at mylittlebigchair.workpress.com Thank you!

I did it! This isn’t the way I remember it working, but it did work and all is well. Sorry to have bothered you. Much thanks anyway.
