Can't add subdomain

    We already own the domain earthwatch.org and it is registered someplace else. I want to setup a subdomain blog.earthwatch.org and point it to this blog.

    I requested by IT department to create the cname and point it to earthwatchunlocked.wordpress.org. when I go to assign the domain, I get the error – this domain is not yet registered. What am I doing wrong?
