can’t add text widget

  I tried to add Feedburner’s html feed chicklet into a text box, after saving changes, it doesn’t show up on my sidebar. When I checked back in my widgets, the html has been changed, only partially appearing. What can I do? I’ve tried many times, and with a different browser too.

  It sounds as if there is either a error in the code, or that it contains javascript, flash, iframes or forms – none of which are allowed here due to security concerns.

  You can post the code here between backticks (the key to the left of the #1 with the ~ on it) so we can take a look at it.

  You have to put the code between backticks as I said (one at the beginning and one at the end).

  backticks?

  Backticks are those little marks like apostrophes on the same key as ~ usually . So it’s Backtick, All the code, Backtick. That makes it display properly.

  We used to have a dedicated Delicious widget. Do we not have that anymore?

  I still don’t know what a backtick is — am on a German layout keyboard, so the keys don’t show all the symbols in the same places. I have the same problem: I guess it is the Javascript that ruins it. I wanted a countdown widget in the sidebar. Perhaps WordPress could make one that will work? They are relatively simple. (I’m just not very good at coding html myself…)

  There are some Countdown widgets that can be used on wp.com here: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2008/03/11/how-to-add-a-countdown-ticker-to-your-blog/

  They’re all without Javascript.

  Backticks on a German keyboard are normally in the top right, next to the question mark, you’ll need to use STRG to get it I believe.

  Thanks! I get the ticker factory ones to work, but they are too wide for the sidebar boxes. And as cute as they are, all I wanted was the numbers (digital countdown clock) with a title on top.
  I guess I have to work out how to do my own coding here…
  And yes, I eventually found the backtick! :-)

  Yey for the backtick!

  Maybe have another look on Google if there are any other countdown tickers, that post only lists a selection.
