Can’t add users as “authors”
-
I have two persons, who have said they have registered as worrdpress.com users, that I would like to add as authors to my blog. When I try to do so, however, wordpress says they are not registred users. Any ideas about how to resulve this problem?
Thanks

I would suggest that if they registered then they received an email confirming this. That being the case if they email support at this domain a copy of their confirmation email staff can remedy this.

First thing I would verify is if teh addresses that you’re using to find these folks are the correct ones. This has come up in the past here in teh forums and every single time, it’s been because the address was incorrect.
It’s the email address that they signed up with that needs to be used.

I’m having this problem as well. They left a comment, and I can view it in my dashboard under ‘users’ and it shows the email address they signed up with, I copy and paste into the ‘add user’ field, and it tells me they aren’t registed.

You must use the exact same email address that the users registered at wordpress.com with. No other email address will do.

because on my comments page in the dashboard in my admin account it shows. Where it says their user name, email and IP address. That’s how I’ve added all 7 or so other people.

It would show they’d left a comment, not that that was the same email. You can even have two different emails on the same user account. Email them and ask them which email to use.

Ok, the email that I tried is the email they used. And I don’t see a place anywhere that will let a user have multiple email addresses. ?

That’s the post with the sign-up instructions.

(1) Send all details including wp.com usernames and email addresses to staff during support hours so they can help you with your original problem http://wordpress.com/contact-support/
(2) Take note that the url for the sign-up link in the post you provide the link for “dead” – that is, it is not linked. It should look like this http://wordpress.com/signup/
This will help you learn how to create links http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/how-to-write-links/ -
