    Hi,

    I am using About section.

Are you referring to the “About” page on the site https://diplaxmic.wordpress.com/?

I am not able to find drag or re position image option once set as featured image

Dragging or repositioning of a featured image is not an available option for featured images on WordPress.com themes. See the Featured Images support page.

On some themes you have a choice of either skipping cropping or cropping an image selected to be used as a featured image. No other editing options are available for featured images. There is no option to crop an image loaded into the Featured Image module with the Resonar theme activated.

  • Hi @diplaxmic!

I’ve just looked at your about page, and it looks like you have an image that works well in there now :)

Resonar is built to fill the screen with your image, so depending on how tall/wide the screen is, the cropping will be a little different a landscape screen would crop vertically, while a portrait screen crops horizontally). This all happens automatically, and not manually as @musicdoc1 mentioned :)

The image you have now is a good one – the focal point (you!) is right in the middle – not too close to any of the edges, so it doesn’t get lost in the cropping.

Let us know if you need any more help!

    Thanks you for your response.

Yes, I have cropped image and uploaded which was very painful. That would be a ease if it would have an option for dragging as per our requirement and not automatically!

    @diplaxmic,

That would be a ease if it would have an option for dragging as per our requirement…

Perhaps I’m not understanding. Do you mean that you’d prefer to drag an image from files, or from the media library, to the featured image module — as you might, for example, to insert an image into a page from the media library — rather than uploading it?

My image is my own picture, so face is getting cropped on page.

Where is the face getting cropped? I’ve narrowed my browser window as far as possible in Firefox, and the face does not get cropped at all. Also, I’m not sure what you mean as far as repositioning of the image. If positioning of the image is important, then why not ad the image, or another image with portrait orientation perhaps, into the content of the About page?

  • I’m wondering if by “drag” you mean “crop?”

If so, you can crop the image after you upload it, but it requires accessing the WP Admin menu:

Take your site’s address and add /wp-admin on the end.
When the dashboard loads, select “Media” on the left

You can use this Media Library to explore and edit your images. Here’s a page with some tips:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-editing/

Note: Don’t delete images from the Media Library that you are using in your posts or pages! Deleting them from here deletes them from the site :)

Thanks! Will try it for sure!

Just FYI, what I was referring to is when we upload a picture on Facebook as a cover photo, it ask to drag/reposition/adjust an image according to the way we want it to appear on profile load. I was referring to same :)

Like, I will not need to crop image on page but even I upload vertical image I can just select portion I want to display!

    Anyway, no issues!

  • Ah, I see. :)

Facebook’s system will be a little bit different, yes – glad you’ve got things working now!
