Can’t center blog title

No matter what I try, my blog title does not stay centered. As soon as I save centering in the Settings section, it reverts back to left alignment. What can I do?

You don’t have the option to change the alignment of the titles themselves. You can centre CONTENT but not the title as far as I know, unless you know CSS well and use the paid CSS upgrade.
How are you attempting to do it?

I tried to use spaces on either side of the title (in the settings area where title is located), but it just returns to original alignment when saved. It doesn’t make any sense – why would a right aligned title be acceptable as the only option? I’m using the Pressrow template.

That will never work. It won’t even work in the Contents box. You cannot use the space bar for formatting in WordPress.com.
Themes are hard-coded the way they are because that’s what the designer thinks is best. You could try another theme. Many have centered headers.

What you can do is delete the blog title altogether and upload a new version of your header image with the title incorporated in it. (Not good for search engines though.)

Can you please explain whether I enter this code in the Settings box where I list the title, or in the original CSS code? If I want to center the title, do I add this code on either side of the title itself?

You just copy it as-is and put it in where the title goes on the Settings->General page, where you’ve been using the space bar. The   bits function the way that you wanted the spaces to work.

I just put it in settings -> general -> blog title
(I don’t have CSS upgrade)
You want the title to move leftwards so put the no-break-spaces after your blog title. You’ll just have to experiment with how many to add.Note, the code disappears after you go and look at your blog to see if you have enough, but the spaces at the end of the title still work.
Note, this won’t be viewed the same in all browsers so your title won’t be exactly in the center.
I don’t know if this works in all themes, but it does in the ones I’ve tried.
