Can’t change base color in Garland design
-
Hello There,
I’m setting up a blog for a charity organization and want to use their standard colors but when I found the right base color it’s been ignored. All other colors worked and on my private blog it worked as well with the Garland theme. What’s wrong? -
Could you give a link to the blog you’re setting up, in the form:
http://BLOGNAME.wordpress.com
? -
-
Ah yes and the color I’m trying to create is #feffbb. It’s a warm yellow to go with the green. These are the services main colors.
-
Hello can someone please help me with this problem, I don’t know what else to do than keep trying to type in the color code and safe, but it’s not working.

Hi rosclarke, it’s the panels on the left and right and on the color customizer it’s called ‘base’ color. It just won’t change. But on my other blog it worked fine. Can you help?
-
It looks like it should just be:
.sidebar { background-color: #feffbb; }If it doesn’t work, you could try an !important.
-
Hi rosclarke,
that looks like a proper code. Where do I type that in?
I thought I had to go to Dasboard-Design-Color Customizer and only change the color code under Base? -
I have a feeling that color isn’t warm yellow. I put it on my test blog and it came out close to white.
@rosclarke – that is CSS code. The OP is looking at the Garland theme which allows the user to put in custom colors without using CSS.

Hi vivianpaige,
as I type in the code the color changes to a warm yellow as on the color wheel. But I had the same thought as you and tried a different color but it stays white. Odd!I put this question to the support team a while ago, but they haven’t come back to me yet.
Can anyone help me? -
Hmm I just tried #f0f218 on my test blog http://vjptestblog2.wordpress.com/ and it turned yellow
-
Hi vivianpaige,
I tried the yellow color code you’ve put in to test it and it turned into a rich colored yellow while I was writing and also on the color wheel BUT when I viewed the page the yellow looked totally different and I actually like it. So I’m happy with the outcome now.Maybe the problem is that the color code does not always match up with the color you choose on the wheel?!
Thank you!

I’m not sure if the color wheel matches or not. You could look at some of the other color stuff out there (I generally just Google color codes) and see. The other thing is the differences in monitors. On my desktop, the colors are different than my laptop. Haven’t figured out how to sync them up yet :(
Anyway – glad to help.
