Can't change email address

I need to change my email address on my account. But it’s not working.
I go to https://wordpress.com/me/account, enter the new address, and click “Save Account Settings.” The address doesn’t change, despite a claim on the top of the page joyfully announcing “Settings saved successfully!”
There’s also a message below the unchanged email address which says “There is a pending change of your email to [email redacted]. Please check your inbox for a confirmation link.”
I get the message. But there is no confirmation link. It just tells me I can ignore and delete the message.
So I do. And I keep getting emails on the old address.

Are you looking for the confirmation message in the new account? That message goes to your old account.
