Can’t change email address in Profile

Hi, I know this has been covered several times but all topics are closed and I can’t seem to find a solution.
I need to change the admin email address to a new one.
I managed to do so in the Settings > General, received the confirmation email at the new address and confirmed.
What I can’t seem to do is to change it in the Users > Personal Settings. I change it, press Save Changes but it keeps showing the old address.
The same thing if I try with Global Dashboard > ProfileThanks to anyone who can help!

Thanks a million to both of you for the suggestion. You were right, the email was in use with another user I had created.
I changed it and now I think everything works.
