can’t change or close account
-
I wanted to change my account name but the button that allows you to do that remains ‘unclickable’. Next I tried to close my account, with the plan of opening a new one in 30 days with the new name I want. It is the same problem. When I get to the final stages of canceling my account, only the ‘cancel’ button is clickable. Why are the buttons to change or cancel my account non-active? I can see these buttons, but can not click on them for some reason
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
I wanted to change my account name but the button that allows you to do that remains ‘unclickable’.
I’m not aware of such a button. Where do you find that? Changing an account name means changing the username. Instructions for doing that may be found in the Change Your Username support page.
When I get to the final stages of canceling my account, only the ‘cancel’ button is clickable.
Instructions for closing an account are found in the Close My Account support page. At the bottom of the Account Settings page is a link to the Close Account page, and at the bottom of that page is a “Close account” button. Where do you find a Cancel button?
Next I tried to close my account, with the plan of opening a new one in 30 days with the new name I want.
It isn’t necessary to wait 30 days to create another account. I don’t believe there’s a limit on the amount of WordPress.com accounts you may manage at the same time. However, each account must have a unique username and email address.
If your goal is to use the email address on account 2 that is presently used on account 1, this also can be achieved without closing account 1. Just do the following:
- a. Change the email address of account 1 to one that isn’t presently used on another WordPress.com account. This will immediately free up the email address that you want to use on a new account (account 2).
- b. Create account 2 with the email address formerly used on account 1.
-
“If your goal is to use the email address on account 2 that is presently used on account 1”
I meant to say, “If your goal is to use the email address that is presently used on account 1 on the new account (account 2)”
