Can’t change the default theme
-
Hello.
I need help to uninstall/delete/get rid of a theme that has self installed in my blog. I’m currently designing it and I can’t get rid of the theme. I can’t change the theme because when I do it, the new theme just doesn’t install, I keep seeing the same other theme all the time and there is no way I can get rid of it. I’ve followed every tutorial and guide, but some have features I must check, that I don’t have on my Themes section.
Please, help me.
Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey! I totally understand how frustrating that must be while you’re trying to design your blog. It sounds like the theme might be stuck due to a glitch or a caching issue. Try clearing your browser cache and then switching themes again. If that still doesn’t work, it might be something on WordPress.com’s end—especially if your current plan limits some features. Feel free to reach out if you’d like me to walk you through the steps. Happy to help!

Hello, me again.
There’s no way I can get rid of that ugly theme, change it or make it go away. I think I’ll have to open another account and start over, because there’s nothing I can do if that is on WordPress.com’s end.
Thank you so much.

Hello @silnamendo be aware that on WordPress.com deleting the site also means you cannot reuse that site address.
Since your above site is currently not visible to the public, please share the name of the theme currently in use and the name of the theme you’re trying to activate. If your site is on the free plan, you can activate any of these free themes and switch to another free theme at any time.

Hello.
Thank you for bringing that detail to my mind. I’m in despair and, since I can’t get rid of that theme (Nook, which I already think of as a virus) and I have to design and launch my site, I was willing to just delete it and start from scratch.
I’m on the free plan, and the Editor says the Twenty-Five theme is currently active (the one I was trying out, to see if it worked for me), but all I can see is Nook. I changed it several times on the Editor board, I used other free themes… but all I can see and work on is Nook. And I really don’t like that theme at all.
And that’s precisely the point, I can’t change the theme, WordPress just won’t allow it.
To this point, where I’ve tried it all and nothing works, all I can think about is deletion, though I’ll lose the name and that will be hard for me.
Thank you for replying!

Hello again, When you preview a theme, it doesn’t activate it. Try following this guide to changing themes https://wordpress.com/support/themes/changing-themes/
If you are still seeing Nook instead of the theme you activated, first try clearing your browser cache, as @ava68530 suggested above. You can find instructions on how to do that in this guide. https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues/#clear-your-browser-cache
If that still doesn’t resolve the issue for you, please post back here and let us know.
