Can't change title background colour

    I can’t find the menus to customise the appearance of Moka. Steps: 1) sign in to WordPress.com. 2) Click ‘My Sites’. My site is shown. 3) Under the title of my site (threeoranges.london) I click Customize. This takes my to my Moka theme. I never see a menu called ‘Appearances – Customize’. There is a sidebar on the right that allows me to change colours, fonts and wording of the header, but what I want to change is the black background strip behind the title ‘Moka’ in the upper left area. I have hunted through every menu in the sidebar and can’t find anything for title background. All I can find is option to change the overall page background. I can see from the screenshot in the MoKa support document that the title background colour is orange, so it must be possible. Also on the same page I can’t see how to change the default photograph.

    I tried putting this thread on the premium themes forum but haven’t had a reply. I’m really stuck. Please help.

    Assuming you have purchased Custom Design upgrade,

    you can use Custom Colors

    OR

    you will have to add the following CSS to change the color of the title background:

    #site-title h1 {
    background: #ff0000;
    }

    Please find the hex code of the background color you would like to use and replace it after # above.

    Thanks for your reply. I tried this chocolatey-orange colour from the hex code list you sent a link to:

    #site-title h1 {
    background: #D2691E;
    }

    I opened the Moka theme CSS and pasted this under the existing comments section and saved. I got a ‘successful’ message. However, the Site Title background is still black. What am I doing wrong?

    I have just checked again, and the background immediately under the title text is still black, but now there’s an orangey bit of the background sticking out to the right of the black bit.

    What has changed colour is the CSS comment itself – it’s now chocolatey-orange.

background: #D2691E;
}
