Can't claim my own username!
-
I have two WordPress accounts. It just happens. I want to change this username, currently “laureninspace,” to the name of my other username, “LaurenOrsini.”
So I changed “LaurenOrsini” to “LaurenOrsini2” in order to free up the former. However, whenever I try to change my name to that, it says, “This username already exists!”
It’s an unusual name and I doubt anybody took it in the short time I’ve left it open. What’s going on?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not sure what you really did – but https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/laurenorsini
Is alive and well – or so it looks like – why not just log in and go?
-
There is no such thing here as freeing up a username or a blog URL by deletion of a blog.
See:
Once you change your username you will not be able to change it back and the old name will not be available for you or anyone to use. http://en.support.wordpress.com/change-your-username/

Morning Morning @TT
Guess the OP will ask about inviting themselves to their blogs – you probably have the better instructions for that –

@timethief, damn, that sucks! So I removed LaurenOrsini from WordPress forever?
I tried logging in here, https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/laurenorsini and in fact when I clicked on this link, it said I was logged in AS LaurenOrsini! So I logged out to see if I knew the password, and I do not. I also tried to get the password reset and sent to me, and it’s certainly not my email that it is going to.
