Can't CNAME in DNS to point to new host.
-
I’m moving my blog (a .com domain) to another host (squarespace), but am not able to transfer the domain because the initial 60 days have not passed. So, I wanted to have it mapped to point to squarespace. However, I’m not able to change the DNS.
Let me know what other information I can give you that will help clarify the issue I’m having.
Thanks in advance for your help!!

Provided your are logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrade, if you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

I can’t change the nameservers. Squarespace says to leave the name servers as they are and to have the CNAME and A record point to squarespace. I’ve tried to do this, but it is still not working. It’s been over 72 hours. I looked at the thread below, and some others have had the same issue. However, a support person usually come in to help them, so I’m not sure how it gets resolved. I’m hoping someone else can provide their experience.

Hi Janet,
I have added the CNAME for you. Just note that it can take from a few hours to a couple days for it to propagate, so please be patient.
Let me know if you run into anything!
Cheers!

Hi Grace,
The domain still doesn’t appear to be pointing to squarespace. When I look at the DNS records, I don’t even see a CNAME. Am I missing something? Please let me know what information I can give you to help!
Thanks,
Janet -
sometimes this settings can take up to 78 hours depending on the registrat, ie 1and1 sucks when it comes to updating dns and cnames, it can take up to 3 or sometimes 4 days for them to submit my changes, so i moved my sites to namecheap

It’s been 91 hours now since Grace (staff) updated the DNS/CNAME records for me, and it still isn’t propagating. The domain is registered through wordpress.com, which is why I’m requesting staff assistance. I can’t change the domain to a different registrant because it has been less than 60 days since I registered the domain. I had originally set my blog up through wordpress.com but then switched to Squarespace. So, right now, I just need to have the CNAME point to that host. However, when I do it myself, it doesn’t work. I’m sure I’m just doing something wrong, any advice would be very much appreciated!!
Thanks for your help!
