can’t complete the donate button .
Every year I try and it has never worked.
now it’s important so please help. I ‘d like it on http://barbaragreenemannsgallery.wordpress.com on the abstract art page. I stareted it as a single blog draft but please get no farther

Follow the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/ found in our WordPress.COM support docs religiously without trying to add in anything or leave anything out and it will work on any WordPress.COM hosted blog.

Hi! I’m having problems adding a PayPal button to my site too. I’ve followed the WordPress instructions and pasted the PayPal email link into the WordPress code, but when I try to preview or update I get an error message: “Oops something went wrong.
That method is not allowed”. Not sure what I might be doing wrong. Any suggestions? -

Thanks! I’ve double checked all the steps and it looks like I’m doing exactly as instructed. I am using the email link from PayPal as outlined in step 2. I thought that it might have something to do with the button that I was selecting on the PayPal side, as I see the wordpress code (step 3) specifically mentions the buy now button and I was using an add to cart button. I tried again getting a new code for a buy now button, but I’m getting the same error.
Also, the error message actually shows the line break in between the 2 sentences. (the br in between the < >) When I copied and pasted the message into the forum, it did the line break rather than showing the actual text. Don’t know if that is significant as to the meaning of the error message or not…..

Will you provide a screenshot or the error message for Staff please? You can use http://snag.gy/ to share screenshots and link to them here. If you use the WordPress.com guide for screenshots http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ you can and upload it to your Media Library, and return to this thread to provide the file name so Staff can examine it.

I think the issue may have resolved itself as it now seems to be working correctly. I can’t say for sure what happened, but I had closed out the tab I was originally working on. When I went back to do a screen shot, I had to start the page edit over and noticed right away that the layout of the page was different than what I originally was working on. Anyway, I pasted the code into the text and hit preview to get the error so I could take the screen shot, but instead the code worked! I am unable now to reproduce the original error message.
Also, my suspicion about the different type of button proved incorrect. It seems to work now regardless of the type of PayPal button selected when generating the code from PayPal.
So, for the time being at least, this issue seems to be resolved. I’m sure that as I work to get this site up and running I will come across other issues, so you may be hearing from me again!

You’ll need to use the PayPal code described in this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/get-paypal-button-code/
Only that code will work on your WordPress.com site. If you have trouble with any of those steps, please let me know.
