Can't contact host for FTP info
-
I have a catch-22 problem with finding my FTP login information (which I need so that I can use FileZilla). Every support thread I’ve read says that I would need to contact my webhost, which appears to be Automattic, according to whoishostingthis/?q=algofun.org.
When I look at the contact page for Automattic, it indicates that I should use WordPress support, which then directs me to these forums. Does only paying $26 a year ($18 plus privacy) prevent me from ever contacting anyone by phone?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no FTP access to blogs hosted by wordpress.COM. Read https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

re: the front page error message found on every new .wordpress.com blog
Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help. There is nothing wrong with your site. By default the front page of the blog is the only page that will display all published posts on it. As soon as you publish a post not a page the front page error message and searchbox that appears on every new WordPress.COM blog will be gone. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
I recommend using the step by step tutorial linked to the bottom of your Admin page at https://learn.wordpress.com
See also the “Video Quick Start” tutorial http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/
The only relevant support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also linked to on the bottom of your Admin page.

Note the types of blogs allowed and not allowed at this link https://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
WordPress.com support original content blogging. So are you intending to create and publish your own original content? Or are you intending to re-publish pre-written publicity material?
Do you intend to have an actual blog or are you using the sites to drive traffic to other sites, which is not allowed?
re: wordpress.com hosted blogs and advertising
No blogger initiated advertising for driving traffic to third party sites is allowed here on wordpress.COM hosted blogs. PPC is not allowed. Affiliate marketing banners and any and all advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com are not allowed.
The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains.

http://en.wordpress.com/tos/eCommerce is not possible on a wordpress.COM hosted blog unless you have a Business upgrade for $299. per year in US funds. See here:
http://store.wordpress.com/plans/business/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/Otherwise, provided you are selling only what you yourself make or a service that you personally provide you have two options.
(1) PayPal – Know that the only instructions that will work for posting a PayPal donation button on a WordPress.com blog are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
(2) If you set up an eCommerce site somewhere else online you can create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ and include a custom link to that site in it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links
Some bloggers create a contact form https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/ on a page and after the people have made a PayPal donation they provide the link to a private page for downloading files. Maybe that will work for you.

There is no phone support, and as bloggers are writers and publishers we have no difficulty comprehending written instructions.
