Can’t create a free site

When I try choose a domain name on https://wordpress.com/start/domains
it says “Oops! Sorry an error has occurred. Please click here to contact us so that we can fix it. Please remember that you have to provide the full, complete Blog URL, otherwise we can not fix it.”

Sorry about that! I wasn’t able to replicate the issue on my end. Could you try this on a different browser or clear the browser cache to see if that helps? Here’s how to clear your browser cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
You could also go to https://wordpress.com/pricing and choose the Free plan to start creating your new site on the free plan.

I tried both, different browser and clear caches. Still not working.
And yes, I tried to start a free plan but still the same issue. I have created many wordpress sites before so I know how this works

Hi there, I noticed that you are starting from this URL: https://wordpress.com/start/domains
To clarify that is the site creation flow for creating a site with a custom domain (which requires an upgrade) so it seems you may be finding yourself at that URL without realizing it. Out of curiosity, how are you arriving on that page? Are you clicking something in your admin dashboard to take you there? If you can let us know what you’re clicking we can check and see if that is not the expected behaviour
To create a free site, please try starting from this link: https://wordpress.com/start/
On that page, pick the option to “choose my domain later” in the sidebar on the right, then on the next screen choose the free option. The end result will be a free site without any upgrades.

I have tried it already many times. I have tried many options and always the same.
I have another account and it doesn’t have the same issue, but I want to use this account for this project.
I tried paid options, and still no.

That’s most odd – ok what is the URL of the site you’re looking to make? Maybe I can try and replicate what you’re seeing.
