Can't create home page due to permalink problem

    I had problems formatting my home page. So I deleted it to start over but that didn’t delete the permalink. Now I have a page called “home” but the permalink or slug is home-4. When I try to change it to “home” it magically changes back to home-4. So if I can’t change the permalink, I figured I could change what the web site considers the home page. I’m not having any luck with that either.

    This is so frustrating!
