Can't crop image
-
This is pretty basic stuff…not sure why it’s not working, but I’m sure it’s another WordPress newbie problem :-)
I want to do a quick cropping edit on an image, so following the instructions, I select the area of the original image I want to retain, but the SAVE button never lights up so I can’t save the newly cropped image. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Larry,
Maybe you have a browser related issue? If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html
If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:

2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

Thanks, timethief…but already tried all the obvious things like cookies, etc. The only thing I hadn’t tried was (4.) and now I’ve tried that as well…still doesn’t work. I can designate the area to be cropped on an image, but the SAVE button doesn’t light up so I can actually change the image.
Using Chrome v27 (lastest release build) on a Mac using the latest version of Mountain Lion. FWIW, I’ve tried this also using Safari…same problem.

NERTS! I’m using Firefox 21 and having no issues. Would you like to try it? http://browsehappy.com

I’m sorry…have never cared for FireFox. I use Chrome mainly because it’s the indisputable leader in the browser war on a Mac…plus it has some extensions I simply can’t live without.
Oh, well…it would be nice to do a quick crop edit on existing media images, but I can always edit on my desktop and replace them….but that’s a lot of extra work for such a trivial editing task.
I do find it odd this same problem occurs on both Chrome and Safari, and my version of Safari is pretty much plain vanilla since I rarely use it.

Could you please try to click on the cropping icon again after selecting the area you want to crop? this way the image gets cropped and you are able to save it.

Thanks, kardotim…that was the problem. It’s not very intuitive that you need to click the cropping icon again if you haven’t used the inherent image editor before. Now I know I have to click on any of the associated icons for their corresponding changes to occur. Thanks again!

I’m glad it’s working for you now.
