Can’t delete a Tab! Help please

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I’m using the K2-Lite template for my blog and I want to delete the “default” tab that’s on the header that currently says “Blog.” (It’s the first Tab and it’s standard in the template design.) The reason I want to get rid of it is ’cause I want “What’s 52 Weeks” to be my first page (and my first Tab), then the second tab would be the Blog (current titled “Blog2”).

How do I get rid of this first “Blog” tab! Been goin’ ’round and ’round. Hope it’s just something obvious that I’ve missed.

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Oops, sorry, I thought the link to my blog would show on my posting here:

    Home

Please paste the URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your username to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We can’t help without that.

You want to delete the page where your blog posts go? That’s not a good idea, for a blog.

You can’t make Blog 2 your Blog page, because your Blog page already exists. Delete Blog 2.

Panag — I think we were posting simultaneously :-). Raincoaster — The content for my blog is sitting on Blog2. The Tab that’s titled “Blog” seems a part of the template and doesn’t show as a page in my dashboard. My point being that I don’t want “Blog” to be the first tab showing. Sorry if this still isn’t clear. Trying …

The “Blog” tab is a link to your blog front, and it’s built into the theme you’re using: you cannot edit or remove it. What you need to do is rename “Blog2” into “Posts” or something like that, and hide the “What’s 52 Weeks” tab by turning the page into a child page. It’s all explained here:

    Set the Homepage

Or you can switch to a theme with no built-in home tab – see here:

    The Home tab

Raincoaster and Panaghiotisadam, thanks very very much. Seems what I want to do isn’t possible. Rain, your solution would work IF the first tab was named “Home” (that I could deal with), but it’s “Blog”, so it doesn’t work. Argrgr. Panag — I guess I have to change templates — would like to have tabs tho … will go hunting now.

Lots of cursing going on on this side! Thanks to you both for your help. At least now, I’ll stop searching for a solution within this theme and move on … Have a good one!

    You’re welcome.

Notice that I said “you can switch to a theme with no built-in home tab”, not without header tabs in general – please read the post I linked to. Same post lists the themes in which the link-to-front tab is “Home”.

Panagh — thanks, yes, I got it. I’ve found another theme that’s not 100% perfect, but close enough. Appreciate your help!
