Can't drag widgets to enable them
-
Instructions say to drag the widget to the sidebar but none of mine will drag. Cursor does change from single arrow to four arrows when over a widget title but click and drag does nothing. Is there a secret handshake needed (or combination of keys to get it to drag)?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Which browser and version of it are you using?
Have you tried these troubleshooting tips?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
If they don’t work and your browser version is out of date you can upgrade here > http://browsehappy.com
If you browser is updated then can you try another one? -
Oh oh I see you are copying a pasting and that’s going to lead to problems. Go to Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”
If you intend to continue copying and pasting text from elsewhere without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here so you know how to do this correctly in the future. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

Thanks Timethief. No, its not about cutting and pasting. I’m using the Coraline theme and there are some default widgets there. The tutorial I read said that if I add widgets then the defaults (won’t be used). So I’m wondering if I somehow messed up by adding some links to the links widget. My problem is when I’ve opened the Appearance page and clicked on Widgets, it says to drag and drop the widget I want into the sidebar. But nothing I’ve tried will cause the widgets to drag. I’m using Firefox 3.6; will now try on IE.

Or were you referring to the cutting and pasting I did to enter my link URLs? I did cut and paste using the word editor as suggested for my posts and that worked fine.

(1) Your browser is out of date. The latest stable version of Firefox is 5.0.1. Please upgrade it. I do not know which tutorial you are consulting. I do know if you found it on the internet that it’s for WordPress.ORG installs and they run on different software.
(2) My comment regarding copying and pasting was a result of what I see in your blog. Please do as I said above because you will be copying and pasting invalid HTML if you don’t follow the instructions I posted.

What I see is this post > http://artemisiaup.wordpress.com/2011/07/13/hello-world/ has copied and pasted text in it which is in a very small font size and is green in color. Unless you coded that into the HTML editor it’s a result of copying and pasting without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, and if you keep doing that you will create a mess eventually that will be difficult to sort out. Then you will be in a position of having to edit the posts and/or pages with invalid HTML and fixing them one at a time.

Thanks so much for the advice. I will follow your instructions about the visual editor. My problem with the widgets was resolved by deleting the links I had added to the default links widget. Once I deleted my links I was able to drag and drop. I was reading WordPress’ instructions for widgets.
I can’t update to the new Firefox because the new one doesn’t work well with the software (learning management system) I need for work! But I might try the most up-to-date version of IE for WordPress to see how that works. Thanks again.
