Can't Edit Categories

  For some reason, my latest blog has a completely different dashboard from all my other blogs. It’s got a blue background instead of brown, and it is missing a lot of the normal functions. One of these is the ability to edit categories. I typed in a lowercase category by mistake and want to edit it to be capitalized. I can’t add a new category by the same name, and I can’t edit the existing one. Ideally, I’d like a solution that gives me the full-featured, brown background dashboard for all my blogs, but I’d settle for a fix to this specific problem. Thanks!

  Hi, I’m assuming that when you’re editing this blog you’re working off a page that defaults to displaying your blogs stats and a left sidebar with a few options to add posts and some other things, is that correct?

  If so, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the sidebar and you should see the “WP-Admin” tab. Click there and your dashboard will open up. You can also access the dashboard by going to asliceofserenity.wordpress.com/wp-admin.

  Once you’ve opened your site’s dashboard, in the sidebar, click on posts > categories. That’s where you can edit your categories. Just hover over them and the editing options will appear. You can also add new categories in this section if you wish.

  I’m not sure about a brown background, but this should help you get your categories squared away.

  If you don’t see that WP-Admin tab at the bottom of the sidebar that @juliemrichardson mentions above, you can get to your WP Admin Dashboard by adding wp-admin to your site address, so for you that would be https://asliceofserenity.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

  @juliemrichardson – apparently newer sites don’t have that link in the New Dashboard sidebar.

  Thank you both! I was afraid WordPress had just eliminated the traditional Dashboard altogether or something! It turns out I needed to type it into the address bar to get the page I was looking for. The color of the background for the dashboard seems to be a function of which theme I’m using for each blog.
