Cant edit first page
-
Hope you can help. When I go to my blog: http://oilessence.wordpress.com/ It shows me: ”Nothing Found
Apologies, but no results were found for the requested archive. Perhaps searching will help find a related post.”
When I click my HOME menu I go to: http://oilessence.wordpress.com/?page_id=271
That is how I have it set in my custom menus and I want that page for my first “landing page”.
My problem is I can not see the first page ( http://oilessence.wordpress.com/ ) in my page list on the dashboard and there is no way I can see to get rid of it or post to it.
Everything is in draft mode right now. I have tried publishing everything but it makes no difference.
Is this a “Static Page” issue?
I am very green.
Thanks for any help. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I strongly suggest you read these Support docs on how to correctly set up a static front page on your site http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/ and how to set up a website http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/

I have the same problem, I want a static front page, and I’ve deleted everything and started over several times in order to make sure it’s all correct. The problem is the URL for my home page is warbletoncouncil.wordpress.com/home-4, while the default first page is just warbletoncouncil.wordpress.com. This latter is an automatically generated archive page I can’t see in the dashboard or control! It’s really irritating to be told just to read the directions again when I’ve done that thoroughly many times! Please give some specific help.

@warbletoncouncil:
You are irritated by a reply to a different user? tomjacobsen has successfully set their front page now, so apparently Jennifer’s reply was enough.
And the same should apply to you, actually. As the Support doc says, you just go to Settings > Reading and set your front to display the static page you want. How can we be more specific than this? That’s where you control what the “first page” shows; what the actual URL of the static page is has nothing to do with it.
After you set the blog front to display the static page, the menu will display a redundant tab (because the theme you’re using has a built-in Home link). Again as the Support doc says, to get rid of the redundancy you need to create a custom menu. I can be more specific re this, if you wish, but I cannot be more specific re the basic issue (other than point out that after doing steps 7 and 8 of the doc you need to click Save Changes, naturally). -
Thanks, but I have done all that!!! Please look at http://warbletoncouncil.wordpress.com/
I don’t mean to piss anyone off, I’m just really frustrated

OK, fixed it. sorry about the kafuffle. I just went through everything again and I don’t know what I did different. This is what I get for trying to use a blogging tool as a website I guess!
