can’t edit home page

    Hi – I can’t seem to get into my home page to make edits. I have tried making a different page the home page and it doesn’t help. Thanks for any help

    I’m not sure what changes you made, but this is the homepage I see on your site now:

    Is this the page you are trying to edit? If so are you able to edit by clicking on it in the list here? https://wordpress.com/pages/courtneyflint.wordpress.com/

    If that does not work, can you describe what you see? An error message or any other strange behavious like a blank screen?

    What if you click this direct link to edit it? Does that allow you to proceed? https://wordpress.com/page/courtneyflint.wordpress.com/46

    When I go to edit this page, the screen goes blank.

    Hello there,

    Ok, that’s interesting.

    This sounds like an issue we have been tracking for some time.

    While there is no fix yet, clearing the cache seems to solve it. Please try to clear the cache of your browser and let us know if it helped.

    I use safari (but also tried chrome and it didn’t work there either).
    I followed the instructions and removed cookies etc from wordpress and still have blank screen.

    I’m afraid I’m going to have to find a new website host. This is unsustainable.

    We need to know what version of Safari you’re using by going to Safari -> About Safari – the latest version is 14.1.2.

    Also, can you let us know what version of MacOS you’re on? You can find that out by going to the Apple menu in the upper left and choosing “About this Mac”. It should say “MacOS [name]” with a version number below.

    We’ve seen a number of reports from people using old, unsupported operating systems and we’d like to rule this out first before we keep troubleshooting. Also, this is a problem with the WordPress software itself, so moving to another host to use WordPress you would experience the same problem.

    I meant move my website completely away from word press.

    I don’t want to, but I need to make sure my website is up to date and this is currently impossible.

    Since you’re on a free WordPress plan, your only option is the public support forums, but I’m confident we can get you sorted here.

    With one of our paid plans, you would have access to direct email support. With a yearly Premium plan or above, you would also have access to live chat support from your account page.

    Thanks for confirming you’re on the latest versions of MacOS and Safari. I can’t replicate the issue in Safari, but have had a number of reports that trying a different browser does allow them to edit their posts where they could not in Safari. Could you try installing Firefox or Chrome and trying? Once we have that information we’ll add your information to the bug report we’re using to track and fix this problem.

    It’s been an annoying bug to nail down, so we greatly appreciate your patience while we try to get this fixed for you! :)

    Looks like it’s working in Chrome and Firefox, but not Safari. It wasn’t working in Chrome this morning but now it is.

    Hope you fix it with Safari as I prefer that, but at least I can make edits now!

    Sorry for the trouble there!

    I recommend sticking with Firefox, and we’ll get this fixed as soon as we can narrow down the cause.
