I was attempting to change the main page of my blog so the blogging part didnt come up, but the information about the company acme up. I tried changing the blog URL which only changed all the pages to the same thing. then i changed the site URL, and now it won’t allow me to get to the editting page anymore. I tried going back, but when I do so, it just goes to my website and not the editing part. What should I do? I reported a bug, but until then, I can’t do anythign and need some advice. Thanks in advance.

The site linked to your name is not a WordPress.com blog. We can’t answer technical questions without a link to the blog, starting with http.

it’s a wordpress blog, completely made in wordpress, I promise. Is that what you wanted? the current account I’m on is a different one because I can no longer get on the one I’m supposed to be editing.

You are in the wrong forum. The link you provided is to a site using WordPress software from WordPress.ORG. And not hosted by wp.

Our software at wp.COM is different.

thanks, but when I try to log on using my username and password in wordpress.org, it says that username doesn’t exist. Also, I’ve always gone through wordpress.com. Could this possibly be one of the problems? My page coming up as a .org document and not a .com document?

We are volunteers in this forum and have no behind the scenes access, but your site is definitely not a wp.com blog.

I see this in your source code
    meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 2.8.4″ /
which indicates that the site is using WordPress.org software. No references to wp.com, though.

My blog source code has 100 or so references to WordPresss.com like this:
    ‘link rel=”stylesheet” href=”http://s2.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/unsleepable/style.css?m=1254243143b” type=”text/css” media=”screen” ‘

Also it appears that you are doing business with your site, which is usually (nearly always) not allowed here on wp.com.

Here is how to contact support for wordpress.com:

thanks. i went onto wordpress.org to see if i could log in through there, because how I logged into my website before was putting wp.admin after the website url and it would bring me to a login page, but now that just goes to my website still. So I went on the wordpress.org website, and I cannot find the login part there. Sorry to bother you Tess, but if you happen to have any wordpress.org knowledge or an account with them, could you just send me the login screen so I could see if that works? please and thanks.

I don’t have any wordpress.org experience at all. Sorry.
Sometimes people here just sign up for a new account, for example if their blog is suspended. Accounts here are free, but I don’t know what one would do to open an account at wp.org.

No, no. You don’t log in to WordPress.org. You log in to your blog. It’s independent, not like WP.com. You have to log in to the site itself.

Extrapolating from the standard form, I’d guess your login link is http://gicleeofnewengland.com/wordpress/wp-admin

Thanks Raincoaster. It’s hard to believe that I’m the most tech savvy person at work! But when I want to work on our site, I sign in to my/our account with the host of our site. But we are not using wp.org software…

  • Unknown's avatar

The host of your site is acting kind of like WP.com does, then.

Yes. A bit. But essentially no restrictions.

And I do use their “software” which is lame. “click and build” Because I really don’t know how to build a website to upload. I did upload something I designed (years ago, with adobe golive), but then I didn’t know how to change it? Should have taken a class!

But either way (ftp or “c & b) I still log in to my account with the host. Could be I still misunderstand something, though.
