Can’t embed YouTube video because I have no video tab
-
I just checked the FAQ about how to embed a YouTube video into my blog post, it says to copy the URL, and paste it in the video tab below the editor box… the problem is I have no video box, what can I do? If I just try to use the provided ’embed’ link from YouTube, it just disappears. Can anyone help?

Perhaps one of these threads from the forum searchbox will have the information you need in it https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=embed+youtube+video

Do you mean you don’t see the video box at all, or you can’t find it? It’s really more of a tab. It’s directly below the Visual Editor; you should see a blue bar and four links with Upload, Browse All, Videos, Slideshows. Click Videos, and under that is where you place the youtube url. It should work perfectly.
If you still can’t see the tab, try a refresh and clearing your browser cache.

If you have the URL of the youtube video, I’m not understanding what the problem is. You don’t need to upload it. You put it in the brackets like this:
[youtube=URLoftheyoutube]

well i can’t find mine either. i also put the uRL as suggested and no video.
i have a video tab, but no box to paste info in. help.

What is the URL of the video that you’re using? What is the URL of your WordPress.com blog? The site linked to your name isn’t a WP.com-hosted blog and, as such, the instructions you’ll find here will not apply to it.

I am trying to upload a video from youtube as well. I have followed the directions. However, when I press the “send to editor” button, nothing happens. The link to youtube that I am trying to embed is: <object width=”425″ height=”355″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/iotBJt2MaQM&rel=1″></param><param name=”wmode” value=”transparent”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/iotBJt2MaQM&rel=1″ type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” wmode=”transparent” width=”425″ height=”355″></embed></object>
Thanks for any help

After reading another concern about the same topic, I typed in the URL and palced brackets around it. However, this time it just shows the link, not the video. Suggestions?
-
The URL in the Embed code or in the URL bar in the browser is NOT the URL that you need. You need the one from the box just above the Embed code, in this case http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iotBJt2MaQM
The correct format for posting Youtubes on WP.com blogs is in this thread a few posts above, so scroll up and read.

I’m doing everything right — I have the video tab, I have the correct URL and when I hit “send to editor” nothing happens.
-
Try ignoring the video tab and just use the WordPress.com code as reviewed above. It’s hotlinking from YouTube itself and it works just fine.

having the same problem. I don’t see any video tab and when I put the youtube url in brackets nothing shows up :(

@djlobsterdust
Raincoaster posts youtubes frequently and I do believe she and knows what she is talking about. Please read the whole thread. Particularly read the post three posts above your own https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=14065&page&replies=12#post-129514
and the one immediately above your own https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=14065&page&replies=12#post-130134
and then proceed accordingly.
Cheers :) -
Thanks. Yes indeed, I post YouTubes all the time, and I have never even seen the Video tab.

Honestly, I never use the video tab. Looking at it now, I see it has been changed. It used to only include the instructions on how to insert the video, ie, the format to use in the post. Now there’s a box there to enter the url.
I put up a lot of videos and just use the [youtube=urlofvideo] as raincoaster mentioned above.
