Can’t export all posts

    Trying to export all my posts, but XML file only exports 100 out of 177 posts. Can you help?

    Yes. Only 110 out 177 will export…the newest 77 won’t export. Can you help?

    Hi there,

    I downloaded an export file for your site and imported it to a test site, and it imported all, now 179 posts, on your site, http://ecscott.wordpress.com/

    How do you know it’s only exporting the first 100? Did you check the file itself, or is only 100 importing on the new site? If the latter, it’s more likely a problem with the importer on the new site timing out. Can you please give us the address of the site you’re importing to?

    The only way the export would include only some posts is if you selected the option to only export posts for a specific date range.

    Hi again,

    It’s only importing 100 into the site.

    every time I try to import to https://eugenecscott.com, I check import all.

    How do I prevent the site timing out while importing? Thank you so much!

    Hi @ecscott, we can’t control the settings at the new host, but I’d recommend just re-running the import if it’s stopping at 100. It should skip any already-imported posts, and add the others for you.

    Does the number of posts go up at all? If so, I’d keep running it.

    If not, can you try searching the file for the titles of a few posts that did not come through?

    And, could you share a few of those titles here so we can check our export files for them?

    Number of posts never goes up. I’ve tried importing several times and the same 100 posts are imported, the same 77 are not. The titles of the missing posts are in the xml file, but they won’t import. I’ve checked the file in an online xml file editor, and I get the message that it’s an invalid xml file, but no information on how to fix it.

    Have you tried creating an entirely brand new export file from http://ecscott.wordpress.com/ ? And does that one preform any differently when imported to the new site?

    Please share some of the post titles that aren’t importing properly so we can check our export files.
