Can't figure out where my posts are going and other random messed up-edness
-
Hi. I am obviously and pathetically new. I have a few questions in setting up my blog. Hopefully they will be easy to answer.
Right now it is set to private, so please let me know if I need to make it public, or invite you, or if you have admin access already to help me.
What I wanted was a static front page that provided an introduction as to what this blog was about. From there I hoped to have a link on the header bar to my blog and also my “about me”.
I created new posts and back dated them. They all show up when I click to view all posts in my dashboard. However, that is the only place I can find them.
I also set up some widgets but they aren’t showing up as well. There are a few other minor things I was hoping for that I cant seem to get to happen that I see on others pages.
Basically, I am desperate for some design help. I don’t want to start inserting pictures, or heaven forbid make it public, until I can fix this.
Can anyone help me figure out what I have royally messed up and how to make the entire thing look and feel better?
Thanks!
Melissa

1. When you set a static page as your front, you must also create a no-content page in Pages > Add New and set that page as your posts page (in Settings > Reading). See here as well:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/2. The answer to the widgets issue may be theme dependent or widget dependent. So first you need to tell us which theme you’re using and which widgets you added. If we don’t manage to figure things out this way, you’ll have to go to Settings > Privacy and temporarily select the middle instead of the third option (staff can access your dashboard but we fellow bloggers volunteering cannot).
