Can't Figure Slider Feature Out

Here is where the discussion is so far. My first letter:
I got the Twenty Fourteen theme to begin with because it looked like it had this cool slider at the top. But, I have never been able to figure out how to do anything but add a picture to the header. And, I can’t find any information about a slider anywhere. Help!

Hey there,To get posts into the Slider section you have two options: Using a featured tag, or using Sticky posts.
Featured tag is enabled from the Customize screen of your site. Mind the “Featured Content” button on the right sidebar: https://peacefulselfprograms.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
Sticky posts are enabled from the Post Editor, in the Visibility option of the Publish box: http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

I tried to respond that NO it did not. And, in trying to respond I hit the Reply button and was sent to a large forum to dig through. No good. The answer is I tried everything he suggested and all that happens using both methods is that I get ONE post in the slider or grid feature and that is all.
Help!

The slider is only for some posts. It’s not intended to be used for all posts. If you place every post in the slider then none will appear below. When a featured post with a featured image is placed in the slider then it does not display on the same page ie. on the front page of the blog in the stream of posts.
Also note when a post is featured in the grid it will not appear again on the same page in the stream of posts.
