Can't finalize configuration of new domain registered through WordPress
-
On 16 May, I bought the WordPress Value Bundle and registered a domain through WordPress as part of the package. By reading your support documents, it seems that you should automatically point the new domain registered through WordPress to my blog. But three days later, i continue to be unable to set the new domain as my primary as it continues to show a “DNS needs to be updated” error and a statement that nameservers are not updated. Your support documents do not help as they tell me to click on “Domain Administration,” which does not appear on my Domains page.
Am I mistaken in understanding that WordPress updates names servers and DNS settings automatically when I purchase/register a brand new domain for my blog through WordPress? If I am mistaken, where can I find clear, step-by-step instructions on what I am supposed to do?
The blog I need help with is http://victimofthefury.wordpress.com and the new domain I have registered through WordPress is http://victimofthefury.com.
Thanks for your assistance.

I have flagged this for the staff to review your account
It looks like your domain name victimofthefury.com. did not get registered – what do you see at?
Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades
Dashboard >> Store >> Billing History
It also looks like victimofthefury.com. has been mapped to a blog here at some point in the past – that legacy can interfere with new domains and mapping.

At My upgrades, I see:
WordPress Value Bundle
Status: Active
This upgrade will be renewed automatically in 11 months on February 14, 2014
$99.00 USD per year
$0.27 per dayDomain: victimofthefury.com
Domain Mapped to WordPress.com
Status: Domain included in WordPress Value Bundle
This upgrade will be renewed automatically in 11 months on February 14, 2014
DNS needs to be updated | CancelAt Billing History, I see:
Purchase – WordPress Value Bundle – 2013/03/16 15:06 93L54891A31972331 $99.00All except for “DNS needs to be updated” suggests all should be ok, yes?

That looks good but I still don’t see the registration in a whois – sometimes registration fails for some reason – the staff check the forum here on a regular basis but I don’t know their schedule. They can review your account and help you get what you have paid for. They have a good record of helping.
I flagged this earlier for the staff to review your account

Hi there!
You only purchased the domain mapping, not the domain itself. You need to add “victimofthefury.com” to the “add domain” field on this page:
https://victimofthefury.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domainsFill out the registration information and indicate whether or not you want private registration.
I’ve removed the mapping from your site so you can purchase the domain without any trouble using your bundle credit.
Let me know if you need further assistance!

Sorry, yes I do once again need assistance. I went through the process again, filling out the form (again, just as I did previously), and indicated I wanted “private” registration (again). Once again the new domain shows up exactly as before, mapping but DNS error. What am I doing wrong? The form is being accepted and the new domain is showing up on the “Domains” page but the registration apparently continues to fail somehow.
Please continue to help.

I have reset this again for you.
Our registrar is providing us with the following error:
Invalid state/province for country. It might need to be an abbreviation or the whole name. (Armed Forces Americas)
What are you trying to enter as your state or province?
-
Armed Forced Americas – or – AA is my correct state (It’s a U.S. military address.) I’ll try it with a alternative mailing address in Virginia. Thanks.
-
Thanks to all folks who helped. For whatever reason, it apparently kept getting hung up on my military address state/province even though I was selecting it from the dropdown menu. I used an alternate mailing address (non-military) and it has now gone through successfully.
