Can’t find and remove social media icons on homepage
-
There are social media icons on the left of the homepage under navigation as well as an ‘about’ section that only says ‘seeker’. I want to remove both, however, I am unable to find where the reference to those sections are and can’t remove them. I wasn’t able to find them as a block, under Menus or Widgets. How can I get rid of them? I only want to have the navigation page and the ‘recent posts’ section on the left side of my homepage.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi @betulerbasi,
I had a look at your site (which looks wonderful, by the way!) and here’s what I’m seeing on my end: I don’t see any social media icons on the left sidebar or a section labeled seeker. The “About” menu item currently reads as About me, For you — here’s a quick screenshot for reference: https://snipboard.io/xoVleX.jpg
It’s possible you’ve already made those changes. Were you able to sort it out since writing in?
That said, since you’re using the Retrospect theme, it does include a Social Icons block in the sidebar by default. If you’d like to remove it, here’s how:
- Go to Appearance > Editor from your dashboard.
- Open your homepage in the editor.
- Use the List View (top left of the editor) to expand the blocks.
- Find the Sidebar pattern, expand it, and look for the Social Icons block, you can remove it from there. Here’s what that looks like visually: https://snipboard.io/jzIS74.jpg
Also, I’d love to learn more about your goals for the site. You’re doing amazing, meaningful work supporting college and grad students through your coaching. Are you planning to build out specific coaching services or a contact page for one-on-one sessions? Would you like help setting up a newsletter, booking system, or integrating LinkedIn/Instagram better?
Happy to help however I can, let me know what you need next!
