Can't find how to put widgets where I want

  I only seem to get an option to put my widgets at the footer of my page when I go to the widgets page, when I really want them to be on the left sidebar where people will actually see them. I tried various things, but I can’t seem to find a way to open that as an option – any help, please?

  Wu Wei doesn’t have a sidebar: you need to select a different theme. See here:
