The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is no install theme button. There is an activate button. Do you mean you want to install your own theme onto WordPress? You cannot do that here on wordpress.com, you would need to go to wordpress.org

noirciplume: yes i want to install my own theme that i downloaded. im currentl in wordpress.org what will i do next? you have to understand i am a newbie at wordpress.

-
noircplume: the problem with using ftp or filezille is that i cant get to connect the ftp program with wordpress using the username and password. this is really getting irritating.
-
I’m sorry I cannot help you any further because I have no experience on WordPress.org. Maybe you can try the wordpress.org forums instead.
-
noirciplume: then why the hell did you advice me to go to wordpress.org if thats the case!?>?>

noirciplume: then why the hell did you advice me to go to wordpress.org if thats the case!?>?>

because you cannot install themes here on wordpress.com. You can only use the themes that wordpress.com provides.
On wordpress.org you can install any theme that you see.

@noirciplume
When you answer question will you please consider including the relevant links to wordpress.com support documentation? I have found that doing that will eliminate the confusion factor that arises when you comment but do not provide useful information for resolving the issue quickly and in one comment. -
@mutiastotomas
There is no FTP access to free hosted wordpress.com blogs and we cannot install individual plugins into free hosted wordpress.com blogs. Likewise we cannot install any themes from the internet as they are for wordpress.ORG installs which run on different software.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/On free hosted wordpress.com blogs we can only use the theme which have been coded to run on this multi-user software and available to us here > Appearance > Themes and no others. We cannot edit either themes or templates on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/
If you wish to have complete control over a blog and the ability to upload themes and plugins into it your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install form wordpress.ORG and self host it.

@thesacredpath, the url is mutiastotomas.wordpress.com im a newbie in this platform and ive been a multiply platform user for 2 years. i wanted to migrate all the data and uploads from multiply to wordpress. my understanding is this… create a wordpress account thereby having this mutiastotomas.wordpress.com url install a custom theme that i found on the internet so it would look nicer. i found this custom free theme cos it suites my blogging needs perfectly: http://www.gabfirethemes.com/demos/snapwire/ i wanted to install that theme in wordpress but i cant. if you have time to explain to me how wordpress works or how do i upload and all that or do i need to pay for an account to install a theme or do i need to buy a domain etc… i just got used the multiply platform that im having a hardtime with this new concept of another platform wordpress which is great by the way but a bit confusing at start.

The short answer is that you can’t install your own Theme on WordPress.COM no matter what upgrade you try.
You can change the look with the CSS upgrade but you are on your own as there is no official support for that.
You are limited to the 100++ Themes you can see in your Dashboard >> Appearance.
All the blogs here share the same code so a bad Them could crash a lot of sites so the restrictions are for security and reliability.
