can't find install theme button!

There are two types of wordpress sites. That that are hosted here on this wordpress.COM hosting service, and those that are self-hosted on third-party hosting services such as godaddy, bluehost, etc.

There are restrictions here on this wordpress.com multi-user platform since there are 20 million of us all sharing the same underlying files. If someone were to install something that was messed up, that could bring down 20 million sites.

If you want to choose your very own theme off the internet and not have the restrictions here you have to self-host a site. Figure an average overall total cost of $10 to $25 per month all things considered, but that depends on bandwidth and storage requirements. You will have to do all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting on a self-hosted site. If something goes wrong, such as installing a theme that has problems and kills your site, you have to be able to figure out what went wrong and then you have to fix it.

WordPress self-hosting is a lot easier now than it was a couple years ago, but it still requires work. Doing regular backups is highly important. They can mean the difference between getting your site back up and running in a few hours after a disaster of some sort or losing everything.

Waw thats a great-looking theme that is! And it’s free! I feel like logging a request in the “Themes” forum!

@mutiastotomas: you said “i wanted to migrate all the data and uploads from multiply to wordpress. my understanding is this… create a wordpress account thereby having this mutiastotomas.wordpress.com url install a custom theme that i found on the internet so it would look nicer.” .

Here is where you got it wrong: when you decided to migrate from “multiply” (free social networking site), you should have gone to a web host company, pay them every month so that they host your website, then you deploy wordpress.ORG software in your newly-set up website, and then you install the free theme you downloaded from the dashboard you would see, which is different from the dashboard you are looking at when you are logged in your mutiastotomas.wordpress.com.

But because instead of doing that you came here and opened a wordpress.COM website, you are limited to the 120 themes available which are showcased here :
    http://theme.wordpress.com/

There are at least 2 themes which have functions similar to SNAPWIRE and which you might be interested in, but they are both premium, which means you’d have to pay a one-time fee to be able to use one of them in your wordpress.COM website. These 2 are :

Fresh News, available here : http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/fresh-news/

    or perhaps

    Traction : http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/traction/

I do think timethief and auxclass answered already, but I thought Id have a go too, and I just really wanted to comment on that great theme!
