I just created my blog today (suzieswapper.wordpress.com) but when I search it’s name either on Google or on wordpress search bar nothing appears. I want/need users to find me easily without me necessarily always sending them the link or assuming they know the correct url. any suggestions?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

One suggestion: wait. It can take days or weeks before Google finds a new blog.

    /nod to Panos.

You can keep an eye on things at this site, http://ismyblogworking.com/ , and enter the address for your blog. In the top section, it will report when Google and Bing have indexed your site.

As Panos says, it can take a week or more. There are literally hundreds of thousands of new sites that hit the internet each day and it takes a little time for the search engines to get round to all them. Keep posting as each time you create a post, wordpress automatically pings all the major search engines and services.

OK, so I used the link sacredpath posted and everything *appears* to be working fine:

    The important stuff:

Your web server [76.74.254.123] is working fine.
    Your RSS feed is available.
Your robots.txt file is valid and allows search engines to index your content.
Your blog is indexed by Google (517 results).
    powered by
Your blog is indexed by Bing (5 results).
Your blog is a WordPress.com blog.

Still, I rarely–if ever–get search engine hits. Before I switched from Blogger over to WP, I was getting nearly 10% of my traffic from search engines. Does your SE score/rank/whatever improve over time, or–given I transferred all my posts from Blogger into WP–should it be right were it was prior to the switch?

Thanks in advance for any further thoughts/advice.

Of COURSE it improves over time. Search engine ranking is attached to URL, so when you change URL like from whatever.blogspot.com to whatever.wordpress.com you start over again from zero. All other things being equal, WP.com has more search engine juice than Blogger, and you’ll see increased search engine hits soon enough, particularly google image search if you’re using your metadata correctly, ie description, alt text, caption, etc.
