Can’t find my spam to permanently delete it?????
-
I did a search and didn’t find anything about this. Evidently, the dashboard layout changed recently. I used to check it every day for spam and delete permanently the ones I thought were bogus.
Now, I cannot find where that is – did they do away with it, and, are they deleting them as they come in or what?
Thanks for any help. :)

The very worst of all spam is removed before it gets anywhere near our blogs as it’s the kind that can bring down this whole wordpress.com blogging platform. 83% of all comments received are spam.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/Dashboard > Comments > look up and click “Spam”

OK, that worked for a day or so. Now, I can’t find spam on the comments page. Am I crazy? Did they move it again? I can’t keep up!

This is your comments page > http://heartsandhappiness.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php
At the very top you will see:
All | Pending | Approved | Spam | TrashClick the Spam link > http://heartsandhappiness.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=spam
On that page you will find any spam comments you blog has received and be able to delete them. If you don’t delete them they will be autodeleted in 15 days. My advice is no to over think this.
What new bloggers must focus on is generating otiginal content. If your commendts are set up to be moderated then blog on and don’t woory about spam.

Sorry about not proofreading before clicking “submit”. :(
EDIT: What new bloggers must focus on is generating original content. If your comments are set up to be moderated then blog on and don’t worry about spam.

OK, when I click on My Comments – those things are not there.
Is “My Comments” not where I go – which brings me back to my original question. I just want to understand this.
-
If you have no “spam” then that’s what you get. If you wish Staff can explain this to you http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ However, I do not recommend approachingg them until you do a forum search.

BTW I just viewed this post on your blog > http://heartsandhappiness.wordpress.com/2008/11/04/hi-welcome-to-my-blog/
What I see is two lame comments from people who are trying to get a link on your blog and they succeeded. You posted what I consider ro be “trash” or “spam” comments. I’m an experienced blpogger and I know those comments were submitted for opportunistic reasons ie. to get you readers to click through to the commercial sites linked to the usernames.

No, those are not lame comments. Those are from two of my friends, wishing me well. The one from Mike – we were talking about blogs vs. websites, and, when he visited, he thought mine looked like a website, (which was my goal) so, that’s why he said that.
I found the spam bar thing on a couple of my blogs, but, not my main one, so, maybe that means I don’t have any.
Thanks for your help. :)

Is “My Comments” not where I go?
No.
1) Your main dashboard screen has a “Right Now” module. The module includes a tab with the number of spam you’ve got at the moment, and that tab links to your spam folder. (If you don’t see the Right Now module, click Screen Options top right to activate it.
2) Or click “Comments” (dashboard sidebar, below “Pages”): that’s where you find the tabs timethief mentioned. To make sure your spam isn’t automatically deleted, go to Settings>Discussion, tick the option “Don’t discard spam on old posts”, click Save Changes.
But, as timethief implied, Akismet is very seldom wrong. In my blog, for instance, Akismet has caught more than 5,000 comments so far: only five of them weren’t spam.
