Can’t find my wordpress site!
-
I ignored it for a long time, and my domain name expired. I switched my domain name so that it’s now under my control on my own GoDaddy account, however, I can’t find my wordpress site. I finally managed to log in under one of the potential user names, but it says I don’t have any sites associated with that username. When I go to my URL/domain name followed by /wp-admin I get the following message:
Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain. Can anyone help me find my website again? Thank you!

Hello @juliehudson,
It sounds like you’ll need to upgrade your WordPress.com plan and reinstate the domain mapping for your WordPress site.
I’m going to tag this with ‘modlook’ so a staff member can step in, but they’ll likely need to know what domain and what WordPress account/site you’re trying to connect together to assist you.

Hi there,
Can you please tell us your domain or the free WordPress.com address of the site you’re trying to access?
With the information you’ve provided thus far all I can tell you is that the username,
juliehudson, has never owned any sites or domain upgrades on WordPress.com and was last logged into over two years ago. -

Greetiengs Mr. Kokkieh. The problem may be more complex than your description. I still enjoy a long creative relation with WP. Recently things changed. Recently, I was offered the distinction of a free educational website, all I had to do was link my existing personal, non-commercial, educational site to WP. Suddenly there is Blue Host taking over as my unnecessary alleged ‘editor’. While converting the ‘link’ into a marketplace for his other services, he charged my account for $325+ for a 3 yrs. contract. Then he disappeared! My complaints had been to no avail. After many trials I reconnected with WP and after paying another $35.00 I regained access to WP blog only because a transfer attempt and the ‘new website failed. Everything is so complex that it all ends in a Merry-go-Round experience. Fortunately my educational blog is still available free. Enjoy, Dr. d

@juliehudson, the domain, Hudsonconsulting.org, has never been registered with or connected to any site on WordPress.com. That domain is currently registered and hosted with GoDaddy.com. Prior to that, the domain was hosted by Dreamhost:
https://securitytrails.com/domain/Hudsonconsulting.org/history/ns
So we have never had anything to do with any site at that domain. You’ll have to contact those two companies to find out what happened to and/or the current status of your site. Based on a Whois lookup for that domain, it has been registered with GoDaddy since July 2011, with no obvious signs that the domain has expired since then.
The problem may be more complex than your description.
Of what description are you speaking? All I said is that the OP did not provide sufficient information for us to help them.
If you need help with your own site, please create your own thread at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1. Please do not post into unrelated threads created by other users.

There is a site, https://hudsonconsulting.wordpress.com/, on WordPress.com, which belongs to the user,
howcanitb, but that site has never had a custom domain connected to it.If I try to visit your domain, hudsonconsulting.org, I get taken to an error page at http://hudsonconsulting.org.wordpress.com/, but no such address exists on WordPress.com. If it’s going there it’s because someone has set up a domain redirect at GoDaddy.com. This can only be removed from their end as well.

Hi,
This is the one I’m having trouble finding and logging into http://hudsonconsulting.org.wordpress.com/
You are correct that the domain is with GoDaddy and not WordPress, but I created the site on wordpress, and now I can’t find it to work on it and fix the redirect or reinstate the domain mapping.
I imagine that if I could log in to the wordpress site, then I’d be able to reconnect it to the correct domain.
If I am thinking about this all wrong, then please let me know what I need to find what I created in wordpress. It would be horrible if I have to recreate all that content again!
Thank you!

If this is helpful, here is the email I received 7.5 years ago when I first set up my wordpress site. I’m not sure that this helps very much, but hope it does.
[Julie Hudson Consulting] Your username and password
WordPress (email visible only to moderators and staff) via greenlantern.dreamhost.comJul 26, 2011, 8:51 PM
to me
Username: Julie
Password: ******
http://www.hudsonconsulting.org/wp-login.phpThe problem is that when I try to reset the password, for some reason I get a reset for juliehudson and not Julie. And when I reset my password for that, there are no sites associated with that username.
I know it has to be somewhere. It has probably been less than 6 months since I looked at it last, so I’m hopeful we can find it.
Thanks for the help!

Thanks @juliehudson, that messages is actually from Dreamhost, which is a separate webhost. You likely had your own individual copy of WordPress.org there. If you still have an active account with them, they can likely help.
Otherwise, if https://hudsonconsulting.wordpress.com is the most correct, most up to date site, here’s how best to map it:
– Log in as user howcanitb
– Get a plan here: https://wordpress.com/plans
– Under domains, add hudsonconsulting.org
– At GoDaddy, update the name server settings to point here:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.com– Wait a few hours for that to take full effect
Do you want to give that a go?
I am guessing that at some point you had a “masked domain” setting at GoDaddy. That would sortof work if you want to do that instead, though it will cause problems with SEO and linking. You would just need to set the correct settings there to point to https://hudsonconsulting.wordpress.com .
