  Please follow up on that thread if you are still encountering issues in following blogs and make sure you are not spam following. As mentioned there, “The Following feature is designed to follow a reasonable number of sites you want to read in the WordPress.com Reader. It’s not a way to try and get views or follow-backs for your own site.”
