Can't follow blogs, says email address invalid
-
I wasn’t able to follow these blogs:
http://inoirvelvet.com/
http://paolobelcastro.com/After entering my email, I get redirected here:
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The best way to get this reviewed is for you to post the “invalid” email address here. The software will redact the address so only Staff can see what they are.
Add ‘modlook’ (without the quotes) into the sidebar tag on this thread for Staff help.
How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question
You should then subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

I tried following the two blogs again today, still didn’t work.
My email address is (email visible only to moderators and staff) -
Hi @crystaltwilight,
How are you getting to the error page? Are you clicking on a subscribe button, adding your email to a form, or some other method?
It would also be helpful to know if you’ve tried and succeeded subscribing to other sites.
If you can walk us through your flow that would be helpful.

Step 1: Go to site:
http://inoirvelvet.com/Step 2: Enter email at bottom of page
then click “Follow In Noir Velvet”Step 3: The page automatically gets directed to:
https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?update=invalid——-
Step 1: Go to site:
http://paolobelcastro.com/Step 2: Click on Follow button at bottom right of page.
Step 3: Enter email address in pop-up and click “sign me up”.
Step 4: The page automatically gets redirected to:
https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?update=invalidI have been able to follow other blogs that don’t require emails without any problems.
However, previously when I’ve tried to follow blogs that require email addresses, I usually get redirected to a page requiring me to sign in (even though I already am).
Now those requiring emails are taking me to the update=invalid pages. There are others I have not been able to follow; these are just two of them.

I’m having the exact some problem with trying to follow new blogs. I tried to subscribe to the same blog (for an example) and used two different email addresses (both accurate) and both times were denied.

Thanks for the detailed steps, can you confirm if you’re logged into or logged out of WordPress.com when you’re trying to follow the sites?
If you are logged in you should see a follow button and if you’re logged out you’ll see the email form. Just want to make sure that’s the case first.

I tried subscribing to both the blogs that crystaltwilight mentioned and followed the exact same steps and unfortunately had the same results.
I am logged into WP.

I have been unable to replicate this. I’m wondering if this may be localized to a certain browser or setup. Will you please try to clear your cookies and cache and if possible try another browser or Internet provider (such as a mobile hotspot or cafe wifi)?
Please also make sure your browser is accepting cookies. You may also try to disable all add-ons/extensions as well.
You’ll find more on browser issues here:

bdukes, thanks for trying to help us.
I tried adding a new subscription using a different browser and it worked. I’ll just have to remember to change browsers when I want to add a new subscription.

Hi Dandelionsalad ,
Glad switching browsers worked for you. I’d love to see if we can find the root cause so you won’t have to switch browsers every time you wish to subscribe to a site, what a pain.
Can you provide us with:
– Your system details such as operating system/version
– What browser worked which one did not.
– If you have any extensions/add-ons active.
– Anything that will help us reproduce this on our end to get a fix in place. Thanks!

I think it’s a cookie thing as on Firefox which I normally use I have it set to not accept cookies with exceptions that I put in. I did try adding the blog to the exception list but that didn’t work. I also use Privacy Badger and Ghostery, so maybe those interfered with adding a new subscription.
I used Chrome to successfully add the new subscription (then unsubscribed as I was using it for an example).
