Can't follow instructions to verify with Google
-
Hi
i’m following this: https://en.support.wordpress.com/verifying-your-domain-with-google/
But at Step 6, I get to this page https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/pedal4png.wordpress.com/edit/pedal4png.wordpress.com and there is no “Name Server and DNS” option
All there is, is a link to ‘Edit site address’ which I don’t want to do. Clicking it doesn’t give me DNS options either.
(My objective is to get this site https://pedal4png.wordpress.com/ indexed by google; i need to add this code google-site-verification=x-PNlfUnHDf6PXJn1O-BbOPqSWIvoTqHdSqXMe8cpvU )
Thanks :)The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Rebecca,
I believe that the link that you’re following is for those with a custom domain not for those with a WordPress.com site.
Here’s the link for how to get indexed by Google – https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/.
As well, a quick FYI that WordPress sites do get indexed by Google on their own. It can take up to 4-6 weeks. Check out this page here for more info – https://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/.

Hi there,
First, you don’t need to do anything to have your site indexed by Google, or any other search engine. As long as your site is set to public, we make sure that it gets indexed.
But verifying your domain does help, and can give you some extra info on the traffic on your site. To do that please follow the instructions in the Webmaster Tools doc that @jameshelps linked to above. The doc you were looking at only applies to custom domains, not the free WordPress.com address.

@jameshelps, thanks for your help, those instructions worked just fine :)
@kokkieh, thanks – I know, but Google isn’t indexing it yet, and I’ve found & read in the past that verifying seems to make that happen faster.
Thanks,

I know, but Google isn’t indexing it yet
This is a process that happens behind the scenes and it starts the moment your site’s URL goes public. All your site’s settings are correct, and it is being crawled by search engines.
The fact that your site isn’t showing up in search results yet doesn’t mean it’s not being indexed. Your site will only start appearing in results once the indexing process is finished, and that process typically takes four to eight weeks. Your site is only two weeks old.
Verifying your site can help speed up the process, but publishing new, original content on a regular basis will have a much greater effect, so I’d rather focus on content creation if you want your site to start appearing in searches faster.
