Can't follow – subscription expired

  I clicked “Follow” on a blog, then received an email with a “Click Confirm Follow” button. This takes me to “Your subscription could not be activated, it may have expired.” Do I have to have my own blog before I can follow someone else’s? I do already follow another blog.
