Can't get access under new user name
-
I recently changed my admin username to a different email address. My blogs no longer appear under the old name and wordpress doesn’t recognize the new name. I’ve got work to do and not the first idea how to fix this. Help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have two separate email address settings.
Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.
Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.
Try changing it at http://wordpress.com/#!/settings/ first.
If that doesn’t work, try Users -> Personal Settings in your blog’s Dashboard.

Note: After the change you will receive an confirmation email. Please be sure to check your spam/junk mail filter in your email client, if you cannot locate it.

I can’t seem to figure this out. Settings is still under the old username. I can see the blog I’m trying to get at but not access it administratively. I can’t for the life of me make sense of the instructions under the second link you sent over. Isn’t there an actual, real live human being who can take me through this one step at a time? My brain hurts.

@annhollier – I don’t show that any changes have been made to your username nor has your email address changed since you signed up for a WordPress.com account. The only activity on your WordPress.com account is a password reset request less than an day ago.
Are you instead having problems accessing your site at annhollier.com?

OK. I Sit corrected. The Cogent Executive blog is the one I need to work on. It still resides under the old user name. I’m used to a dashboard with a different display and it doesn’t seem to show up until three or four levels deep into the menus now.
I can’t seem to get administrative access any more. When I click on admin for that blog it asks me for a username and password again and doesn’t accept anything I’ve tried. Looks like I just need to reset it but I don’t see how/where. Settings takes me to my overall profile, but I HAVE a working password to log into my account.

The Cogent Executive blog
What is the URL starting with http:// for the blog please?
Exactly which username account were logged into when you registered that particular blog?
What is this “old username” please? -
You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered any blog to access it.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility -
OK Now this is making a little more sense. When I clicked on the first link you sent over, The Cogent Excutive does not show up under the “My blog” listings for the old user name, annhollier but under “linked blog” and the http is http://thecogentexecutive.com/blog But when I try to gain administrative access under either the old or the new email addresses I can’t get in. With the new email address the login window gives me an invalid username error.

This site http://www.thecogentexecutive.com/blog/ is NOT a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. It is a WordPress>ORG install being hosted by bluehost.
Too bad we did not have that URL up front because WordPress.com and WordPress>ORG are separate and have separate logins.
What’s more is that the only blogs we provide support for on these forums are free hosted WordPress.COM blogs. We cannot help you here. You are posting to the wrong support forums. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.org click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.
