    Newbie

Can’t get the home page to display in the menu and can’t see the page to edit it. Don’t have any custom menus.

    Site is joshtomtest.wordpress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page. By default the front page of your site displays all posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order with the most recent post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

I don’t think you understood my question. I can’t see the home page on either the menu or in pages.

The theme you’re using doesn’t have a built-in Home link in its regular menu. You need to create a custom menu. Details here:

Thanks. You helped me learn to check theme features.

    Steep early learning curve.

Did some checking and found that the Caroline theme displays a home page when first installed. Remembering that I’m a newbie, I don’t understand your comment that the theme doesn’t have a built-in home link in its regular menu.

I’m going to be using a custom menu so understanding this is for education only.

FYI, the home page doesn’t show up in Pages.

The blog page, ie the main page of the blog itself, where the posts go, is NOT a static page, therefore it doesn’t show on the Pages widget. It never will.

Yes, Coraline displays a Home link in the top menu when first installed. But my reply was about Triton Lite, because your original question was about this blog:

    For my information???
What “Pages” are you referring to? Pages > All Pages, or Appearance > Menus > Pages?

Sorry. I have a couple test sites up on wp.com so I created the confusion.

I’ll be migrating off of wp.com.

    The theme is Caroline.

If you are going self-hosted then you need to go over to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ and ask over there. That is the forum for self-hosted sites. The themes here are not the same as the self-hosted version of the theme and the answers we give you based on the theme here may not work with the self-hosted version.

Thanks for the note on possible differences between themes on wp.com vs self-hosted. Didn’t realize that could happen.

I’m probably not going to repeat the post on wp.org only because this question was just for my education.
