cant get image border shadows to go away
-
I have tried everything I can to get rid of the shadows that are outlining the images in my posts. Any ideas ? I was able to get rid of the image borders, but there is still some sort of shadow appearing.
Is it at all possible to reduce the amount of height of the header image ?? it’s too tall.
Thanks !
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The site linked to your username isn’t a wordpress.com site, in fact it isn’t even a wordpress site at all so we can’t help you with that.
If you are talking about a wordpress.com site, then we need a link to it.

Should have refreshed I see.
img[class*="align"], img[class*="wp-image-"], #content .gallery a img, .avatar, .gallery-thumb img, .image-attachment img, .attachment-large-feature, .attachment-small-feature { box-shadow: none; } -
Thank you, that worked. I also added border:none to your code and it removed borders too.
Can I set set the height of image header ? I would like it to no be so tall as you can see. I realize this might no be possible without access to the template.

With reactive designed themes such as this, it is a little complex. The standard image is 978 x 288 and you can set a height for it in the CSS, but that distorts the image vertically.
What you end up having to do is to set the site to “no header” at appearance > header and then create a new header image the height you want and then insert and style it into a parent element. It isn’t rocket science, but it does take some futzing with things.
If you want to do that, we can help with it, but you will have to first create the new header image and upload it to your media library and give us the URL to that image. Then we can start working out what needs to be done to get it into things.

ok great. http://themontaukgroup.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/headernew1.jpg
This is the one I want to use. 978 x 160

Go to appearance > header and delete the header (no header) and then we can add the new one. From the looks of it this one might be tricky.

Ok, give this a try, and I have all my fingers crossed that the CSS tidy that wordpress uses does not strip out the border radius and box shadow declarations for webkit and moz. If it isn’t stripped when you save, make sure and view your site both logged in and logged out to make sure nothing unexpectedly shifts.

Well, it would help if I included the code, wouldn’t it?
#masthead { background: url("http://themontaukgroup.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/headernew1.jpg") no-repeat scroll left top transparent; -webkit-border-radius: 8px; -moz-border-radius: 8px; border-radius: 8px; -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,.15); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,.15); box-shadow: 0 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,.15); height: 160px; margin-top: 30px; padding: 0; width: 100%; } #access { margin-top: 180px; } -
THESACREDPATH !! YOU ARE A MIRACLE WORKER !!
Tested in Chrome, Firefox, and IE, all working.
Is there anyway I can give you a recommendation or something ?
-
That’s great. I was just concerned about things shifting between being logged in and logged out, and also concerned with CSS tidy stripping out the border radius and box shadow stuff (it has in the recent past).
You will notice that the header image is no longer a link back to the main page of the site and this is sort of a drawback, but you do have the “home” link in the menu for people to use.
The header image can again be linked, but it is a bit of work, especially or this theme.
You are welcome and your thanks are good enough. You have some interesting articles and I’ve put your site on my reading list.

Yes that’s ok that the header doesnt link back to the page. It was the same on the last theme I was using. But it looked like a disaster in firefox so I switched.

I hate to keep bothering you, but there is 1 more thing I have a question about. How can I get the sharing buttons to appear at the bottom of the posts on the homepage without having to add them manually in the posts. I swear when I “previewed” the template they were appearing.
If I can’t .. no problem.
-
Yes, you can do that. Go back to the sharing page and on the pulldown select “index, pages and posts” for where they should show (I forget the actual wording but it should be obvious).
-
Yes I figured that. I was asking because those are set the way they should be
(Front Page, Archive Pages, and Search Results) and it they are still not appearing.Perhaps this theme does not allow it.
-
I suspect you have found a bug then. Post this issue into the “themes” forum. The theme team monitor that forum and hopefully they will look into it and get it added. All themes here should honor those settings.
