can't get into my own forum post
-
Hi,
I just posted a post to the forum. Right after that it said the topic was closed. Then when I tried to get back into it, it said it had been posted by admin and trying to read that post, it continues to say topic closed. What is up with that? Is it being moderated? If so, it should say that.
Thanks for any help.
Cheers,
John

Hi John,
Looks like it got tagged by our spam filter. I’ve unspammed it to help prevent you from being spammed again, but locked it — we can just discuss here to avoid duplicate threads.
I’ve got all my images up and now see that they aren’t big enough. I can change each one’s display’s setting to large but was wondering if there is a way to do that globally rather than having to change each one individually. I have 52 images up.
If you’ve been adding them using the Thumbnail/Medium/Large sizes, rather than custom sizes, you can globally change those dimensions here:

The second question is, what would be the best theme for me? All I want to do is have these 52 pics up. I won’t be blogging. I might be adding or subtracting some. I need some text at the top with a large enough pic possibly to always show at the top. I want a menu that will direct people to two other pages. I don’t want any hidden menus like that three bad button. Below that should be all the pics in one continuous scroll. The image file names NEED to be displayed. (That can be by mouse-over or always displayed.) Basically just a gallery.
Sounds like you should pick a theme that meets your needs on header image, intro text, and menu. Then make a static page with your gallery as the home page. Many themes should be able to accomplish this, but here’s a few that jumped out at me:

Thanks. I manually changed them all and will keep that in mind about future uploads.
I’ll check out the themes too.

I have another question if I can add on to this thread: For some reason, the image that shows for my second post, image 987, is not the same as the image that one sees when one clicks on that from the main page. The image you get to by clicking on it is the image we should be seeing on the main page.
Did I do something wrong or is the site acting up? I could just delete that post and re-do it…

For those front page images, Cubic will first try to use the post’s Featured Image. If there’s no featured image (as is the case for that post) it will use the first image attached to that post.
Now, there’s only one image currently in that post’s body, but there are multiple images that are attached to it. Visit this Media Library page and see how many of them were uploaded to 987:
https://jonniewilson.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?mode=list&orderby=parent&order=asc
So the simplest thing to do is edit the page, and set your desired image to be the Featured Image.

Wow, I don’t know how that happened. I thought I was only uploading one image per post on all of my posts so I have no idea how others got attached to to any of them. Its good to see that subsequent posts are one image per post (after a certain point.)
I would like to unattach the others. How do I do that?
Thanks.

I believe the only way to unattach an image from a post is to delete the image from your media library entirely, then reupload at the media library upload page:
https://jonniewilson.wordpress.com/wp-admin/media-new.php
The idea that images are “attached to post” used to be part of several things in WordPress, but now is less used — so if you leave them attached I doubt it’ll cause any other problems. This was just a quirk in Cubic. The featured image is really the best solution here, even if you do unattach the other images.

Ah, I see. I don’t want to delete them at this point so I’ll go the Featured Image route.
This may all be moot if I change themes… I am just hesitant to do so even though I know all of my posts and media will be retained…
I also have someone looking into this via your chat so between all of us, we’ll work something out. Thanks!
