Can’t get into my website

  Hi, I’ve had my personal website at glennmcdonald.com for years. About a year ago, I could no longer access it and I haven’t updated it since. I’d like to redesign it now. So I just reset my WordPress password and tried again. No luck. My WordPress email/login is (email visible only to moderators and staff). I can login to WordPress.com, just not to my site. It doesn’t seem to be affiliated with me anymore. Please help!

  glennmcdonald.com doesn’t appear to be a site built with WordPress. Could you doublecheck that URL?

  Hi Glenn,

  The WordPress.com site, https://glennmcdonald.wordpress.com, belongs to a different WordPress.com account than the one you’re using to post here. The glennmcdonald1 account was created only two years ago, while that site has been around since 2009.

  So you need to be logged in as a different WordPress.com username, associated with a different email address, to access that site.

  Hi, thanks for this. OK I think I figured it out. My old WP account used the username glennmcdonald (instead of my gmail address). I found the old password for that and tried to sign in. But the system said access was blocked for security reasons and I need to reset password.

  So I filled out that form, using username glennmcdonald. But no password email has arrived (I tried several times, it’s been about 20 minutes now I guess). It may be that the old 2009 WP account has a different email address affiliated, an old university one that’s dead now.

  Is there anything I can do at this point?

  (meanwhile, I’m signed in here under this separate WP account that uses my gmail account as username.) Ugh, it’s confusing, I know. Thanks for any help.
