Can't get Jetpack to Connect to WordPress.com

  • Unknown's avatar

I run a self-hosted blog at machinerysafety101.com. I was recently having some issues with the statistics I was seeing in the dashboard, so I decided that uninstalling and reinstalling Jetpack might be the fix. When I reinstalled JetPack from the WordPress.org plugin library, I couldn’t get past the stage where the plugin asks for WordPress.com authorization. I can enter my credentials and submit, but after the login dialogue closes JetPack remains stubbornly disconnected.

I’ve run the Remove JetPack Options plugin numerous times now, with Jetpack activated, deactivated, uninstalled. I’ve cleared the blog cache, deactivated all plugins, activated the 2019 theme, then reinstalled JetPack and tried again.

    No joy.

I’m not getting any kind of error messages, so I have no idea why it won’t authorize correctly. I’m pretty close to giving up. Any assistance the mods can offer will be appreciated.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that staff at WordPress.org (supernovia) sent me over here to post this request.

  • Yeah I’m not seeing anything that would outright block us.

Are you running any security plugins that you could try deactivating while you connect?

I stripped the site down to nothing. No plugins. Basic 2019 theme. Reinstalled Jetpack. No joy.

  • You should now be able to use the contact form at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support

I hate to ask you to post somewhere else again, but they’ll be able to help troubleshoot if there might be something on your hosting configuration that might be causing this.

When you submit that form, please make sure to also include links to this, and your WordPress.org forum threads.
